Late Surge Lifts No. 1 Roadrunners over Hartnell

Oroville, Calif. - A late surge by the No. 1 Butte women's basketball team lifted the Roadrunners over Hartnell, 81-57, in the 3C2A Regional Round Two matchup on Saturday evening.

Butte built on three-point halftime margin, scoring 25 points overall off Hartnell's 26 turnovers and 16 points off the bench.

Freshman Morgan Trigueiro led all shooters in the final 10 minutes with nine of the team's 22 points, while overall posting a double-double with 21 points and 10 boards. She added three steals and a pair of assists.

Sophomore Sarah Tait and freshman Jocelyn Medina chipped in 15 and 14 points, respectively with Medina tallying a game-high six assists and five steals.

The Roadrunners (28-1) will host No. 8 Cosumnes River (23-6) on Saturday, Mar. 9. The winner will advance to the 3C2A State Championships, hosted by Mt. San Antonio College. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
