Hartnell Baseball gives back to the community in their second Annual Free Clinic
On January 13-14, 2018, the Hartnell Baseball team hosted their second Annual Hartnell Baseball Clinic. Over 100 kids and 30 Little League coaches participated from all over the county. This year the number of children in attendance doubled. We had about 50 kids participate last year. In addition to the increase in participation, Hartnell studentathletes facilitated the clinic along with Baseball Assistant Coaches, Graham Santiago and Seth Hudson. During the clinic, the kids had fun in interactive drills including sliding, bunting, and a quick game of ball. Hartnell Baseball Head Coach Travis Babin said, “I just think it’s a win-win for everybody; we had a lot of good instructors such as: Ray Green from Greenfield H.S., Lorenzo Espino from King City H.S., Daniel Munoz from North Salinas H.S., Don Keathley former Monte Vista Head Coach, and our two assistants.” “I also think it’s great for our Program, the community service and giving back is great for our players,” added Babin. “To get a chance to work with these young kids and getting a different perspective, getting to see through a different lens than they are used to, is invaluable.” We are thankful for all attending coaches that offered their support for this clinic and attendees. Save the date! Men’s Baseball team will host their first home game January 26, 2018. We are playing vs West Valley at 2:00 p.m. at the Tony Teresa Diamond, (Hartnell Baseball Field).
