Solid Defense Leads Panthers to Win at Los Medanos
The Hartnell Football team took a 7-3 lead into halftime and came out and just dominated the second half getting back on the win column with a 20-3 victory at Los Medanos. With the win, the Panthers run their record to 6-3 overall.
The Panthers were dominant on defense. They allowed only 171 yards of total offense, holding Los Medanos to 209 passing yards and -38 rushing yards. Demarcus Hawkins had nine tackles and two and half sacks. Mike Smith added six tackles and two and half sacks. Robert Brown had one and a half sacks, giving him 11 on the year. The Panther defense has held four opponents without a touchdown this year.
Offensively for the Panthers, David Freeman keeps turning in stellar games. He rushed 22 times for 160 total yards and two touchdowns. He also caught 5 passes for 45 yards. Freeman is over the 1000 yard rushing mark for the season.
Abraham Montano kicked field goals of 30 and 50 yards. The last one being the final offensive score for the Panthers.
The Panthers return to action Nov. 16 as they travel to Reedley to play their last regular season game. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m
