Bio

Coach Gutierrez enters his 1^st season on staff here at Hartnell College.  For the past 7 seasons, he has served as the offensive coordinator at Salinas HS.  During his time as OC, he played a major role in winning the 2017 CCS open division Championship.  In addition to that season, the Salinas Cowboys were in the post-season 5 straight times.  As a quarterback coach, he mentored Brett Reade, Carl Richardson, and Adam Schaffer JR (a current Hartnell Panther). Coach Gutierrez’ son, Justyn, was a record-setting quarterback at Hartnell College in 2015 when the Panthers finished with a 10-1 record. Prior to Salinas HS, Coach Gutierrez coached at North Salinas HS from 2010-2015 assisting with the JV and Frosh programs. He served as the Head Junior Varsity Coach at North Salinas HS between the 2012-2015 seasons.  Prior to these years, he coached youth football in the community since 2001.  As a player, he attended North Salinas HS where he was a starting quarterback in the 1990-1992 seasons. He is employed by White Cap, a local construction supply company for the past 20-plus years. Coach Gutierrez is married to his wife Michelle Rivera-Gutierrez for the past 13 years, and between the two, they share 8 children!
