Freshman Foursome Earns All-American Honors
On a rainy second day of the CCCAA State Track & Field Championship, the Hartnell College men's 4x100 meter relay squad composed of four freshmen were able to earn CCCAA All-American honors. The team of Tim Hunter, Shraee Harrison, Jakob Streeter, and De'Antae Williams earned the right to toe the line with the best relay teams in the state by virtue of their fourth place regional finish in a season tying best 41.34. Going into their final competition, the quartet of freshman were ranked sixth based on time but with a last second change in relay order felt they were capable of pulling a surprise podium spot. The gamble worked and the four easily placed third in the second fastest time in school history in 41.30. The team has enjoyed a transformative season starting at 43.40 back in February and taking over two full seconds off their performance. Along the way, all four ran lifetime bests for the open 100 meters and 200 meters. The foursome also placed seventh in the 4x400 meter relay in 3:22.21.
