Women’s Soccer Season Closing
The 2017-2018 Women Soccer season has come to an end. The team closed the season with an overall record of 10-11-1 and 4-6-1 in conference. The following players were announced as First and Second Team-All conference:
First Team: Maria goalkeeper Isabel Pozos (#99) Maria’s hometown is Watsonville, CA, and she attended Pajaro High School. She is currently a sophomore here at Hartnell. Maria is majoring in sociology.
First Team: Diana Lopez (#13) Maria is currently finishing off her second year here at Hartnell. Maria attend Alisal High School in her hometown Salinas, Ca. Diana’s positions are midfielder and forward. She had a total of 12 assists and 3 goals, and 2 of those were the game-winning goals.
First Team: Chace Miguel (#16) Current sophomore, Chace came to Hartnell from Hollister, Ca. She attended San Benito High School. Chace was named Coast Conference Player of the Year 2017. Chace had a total of 25 goals and 7 assists this season, 7 of those goals were the game-winning goals.
Second Team: Cassidy Shiveley (#7) Cassidy’s home town is Salinas and she attended Salinas High School. Cassidy is currently a freshman here at Hartnell majoring in sociology. She is a midfielder and had a total of 3 goals.
Second Team: Maria Zaragoza (#5) Sophomore defender Maria is preparing to be a police officer. Her hometown is Salinas and she attended North Salinas High School and El Puente.
Second Team: Brenda Avila (#18) Freshman defender Brenda attended Everett Alvarez High School in her hometown Salinas, Ca. She had a total of 4 goals and 2 assists.
“We were able to host a playoff game here at home for the first time ever and it was against Foothill who were the conference page 9 champions and we beat them,” said Head Coach Ivan Guerrero. “Now we are just looking forward to spring and getting ready for next season and recruiting the best players out there.” During the spring the players will be focusing on getting faster, stronger, getting better technically individually and to hopefully help prevent less injuries for next season. They will be facing some universities in March and April to showcase the team and give players a taste of what it's like to play at the next level.
