Panthers Look Great In Big Win at Home
Hartnell Women’s Soccer scored a big 1-0 win at home against Foothill College on Oct. 12.
Neither team showed a lack of effort, but the Panthers persevered, advancing to an overall record of 8-5-1.
Hartnell started off slow but picked up momentum throughout the first half, making eight shots in a display of ball possession and athleticism. But Foothill kept shutting things down at the net.
Immediately into the second half, the Panthers scored in the 48th minute on an excellent shot by freshman forward Dulce Avalos (Greenfield). Their defense was able to keep that advantage intact.
“Collectively, the work the team did defensively was outstanding, doing a great job to go back and play with the goalkeeper in tough situations,” Head Coach Ivan Guerrero said.
Looking ahead to four more games within the next two weeks, he said the team must stay health and fit.
“Consistency is key to be Coast Conference champions,” Guerrero said, “and those championship teams exceed in that aspect.”
The Panthers hope to keep things rolling at home against Cabrillo College on Oct. 16.
