Camacho and Villegas Compete At Mike Fanelli
Competing at the Mike Fanelli Classic hosted at San Francisco State University, sophomores Andrea Villegas and Sofia Camacho came away with three season bests and continue to be ranked in the top four statewide in the middle distance events.
In the 1500 meters on Friday, Sofia Camacho ran her fastest time of the season in 4:37.45 which ranks her second in Northern California and second statewide trailing only Hannah Hartwell of College of the Redwoods. The time is the third fastest she's ever recorded over the distance and she continues to sit second all-time at Hartnell College. Villegas lowered her lifetime best to 4:48.01 in her heat and is ranked third in Northern California and fourth statewide.
The pair returned Saturday for the 800 meters with Camacho running a five second season best with her 2:16.79. She has a lifetime best of 2:16.23 set at last year's Northern California Championship. Villegas ran 2:21.40, her second best 800 meters of the season.
The Panthers will compete next in the annual Hartnell vs De Anza "Duel" Meet on Wednesday, April 5th at De Anza College in Cupertino, CA.
