Hartnell Trio Opens Day One of Heptathlon
A year ago, Hartnell College women's track & field did not have a lone representative in the Northern California Women's Heptathlon. This year, Clodine Tabernilla, Lorraine Mankins, and Daisy Macias all represented the Panthers. After the first day of competition, Clodine Tabernilla leads the Panthers in eleventh place with 1912 points, Lorraine Mankins is in twelfth with 1893 points, and Daisy Macias sits in fourteenth with 1870 points.
Lorraine Mankins opened the competition with her second best 100mh mark of the season at 16.79. Clodine Tabernilla was 17.48. Daisy Macias clocked 18.15. In the high jump, Macias would lead the trio with a clearance of 1.34m. Mankins would go out at 1.31m, and Tabernilla at 1.25m. In the shot put, Tabernilla had a shot put personal best 7.39m with Macias flirting with her first seven meter throw at 6.98m. Mankins would hold steady at 6.89m. The final event of day one was the 200 meters. Tabernilla (27.76) lead with Macias (28.22) and Mankins (29.38) enjoying lifetime bests in the event.
