Small Group Produces Good Marks at West Coast Relays
A small group of women traveled to the West Coast Relays at Clovis Buchanan High School, site of the CIF State Championship and Western Athletic Conference Championship, to improve on season best marks in the relays and various individual events.
Freshman Roselyn Olivo improved upon her State "A" mark in the 1500 meters competing with four year university runners and one of the top community college women from Clovis Community College. Olivo covered the distance in a personal best 4:51.74 that keeps her in third place overall in the Northern California and twelfth all-time in Hartnell history. Lucianna Romeo took over the Coast Conference lead in just her fourth javelin competition. Her throw of 29.64m was a personal best by two meters. The former All-American swimmer has transitioned quickly to dry land competition. Daisy Macias tied her 100mH personal best at 15.74 and cleared 1.50m in the high jump as she preps for the Norcal Heptathlon Championship. Taylan Flower ran a season best in the 100mH at 18.02. Grace Padron produced a season best in the discus at 34.66m. Padron was also consistent in the hammer with a throw of 42.13m. The women's 4x400 relay of Macias, Flower, Olivo and Aileen Sandoval took eight seconds off their season best to go 4:23.22.
The Panthers will compete next at the Mike Fanelli Classic and Stanford Invitationals on March 29-30.
