Bio

Coach Wendell Sells enters his sixth season with the Panthers. He started at Hartnell College in 2014 after one year assisting at his alma mater Southern Oregon University. Sells served as the primary jumps coach his first five years at Hartnell College and will assume sprints and relays responsibilities this spring. Since returning to Hartnell College, Wendell has consistently produced some of the top jumpers in the Coast Conference often times taking relative unkowns and turning them into regional qualifiers and all-time performances producers. He's had 26 all-conference jumpers, 21 Northern California qualifiers, with four conference individual champions and one Northern California Champion. It is at the state championship level where one can see the impact Sells has on an athlete's physical and mental improvement. He's had eight state championsihp qualifiers with two of those earning All-American honors. The Hartnell College all-time jumps list has changed since 2014 with two new additions to both the women's long jump and triple jump.

As an athlete at Southern Oregon University, Sells was a member of a NAIA Outdoor National Track & Field Championship 4x100 meter relay team. He was the Cascade Conference 100m champion and 200m runner-up. His 4x100 meter relay teams were twice the Cascade Conference champions. Sells graduated from Southern Oregon University with a degree in Communication Studies.

Wendell Sells competed for Hartnell College in the sprints and long jump. His sophomore 4x100 meter relay team enjoyed a sixth place finish at state that produced the third best mark in program history (41.66). His relay team placed third at both conference and the region while he also competed in the 200 meters at the regional trials. He was sixth overall in the Coast Conference in both the 200m and long jump as a sophomore.

Sells is a graduate of North Salinas High School and Hartnell College. He is currently employed by the County of Monterey Human Resources Department as a Management Analyst III.
