Men's Basketball Picks Up of Pair of Wins at AHC Holiday Classic

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's basketball team picked up a pair of wins at the annual AHC Holiday Classic after facing off against Chabot College and Hartnell College during the two-day event. Quincy Bently and Taevon Pierre-Louis were recognized as All-Tournament Team selections at the conclusion of the event. 

GAME ONE: ALLAN HANCOCK 87, CHABOT 71 | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs cruised to victory in the weekend opener against Chabot College with a lights-out performance that featured 50 percent shooting efforts from the field and from distance. Coach Aye's squad also dominated inside after outscoring the Gladiators, 38-26, in the paint while holding a +5 advantage on the boards. 

Quincy Bently led the way for the home squad with a career-high mark of 22 points after sinking six of the team's 11 shots from long range. Vondre Chase followed with 13 points while Darryl Brooks II and Taevon Pierre-Louis both produced double-doubles. Brooks recorded his first double-double of the season by chipping in 12 points and 10 assists. Pierre-Louis added 12 rebounds and 10 points en route to his ninth double-double performance of the year thus far. 

GAME TWO: ALLAN HANCOCK 87, HARTNELL 71 | BOX SCORE

A strong opening half showing in favor of the Bulldogs proved to be the difference maker in game two as Hancock held a comfortable 52-29 lead at the half before being outscored, 42-35, in the second frame. The home squad remained hot from the field with a 61.1 percent mark from the floor while also going 13-for-19 from the free throw line. The home squad also continued a dominant showing inside after outrebounding the Panthers at a 38-18 margin and posting 46 points in the paint. 

Onias Outlaw led the offensive effort with 17 points off the bench to go along with eight rebounds and a 7-for-8 mark from the field. Pierre-Louis tacked on 16 points and six rebounds, followed by 15 points and five three-pointers by Bentley. Chase and Kevin Kogbara rounded out the top scorers with 12 points apiece.

The Bulldogs are set to open the Western State Conference schedule on Saturday, January 7th, against Oxnard College at 5 PM inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium. Single-game tickets for the remainder of the regular season are now available on the ahcbulldogs.com/ticketing page.
