The victory evened up the Pirates record at 6-6 this season.
Down by 11 points at halftime (53-42), Porterville rallied in the second to outscore Hartnell 48-26 to pull out the win. The Pirates shot 51 percent (35 for 69) from the field and outrebounded the Panthers by a 44-39 margin.
King came close to a triple-double, adding 8 rebounds and 7 assists to his team-leading 21 points.
Porterville had four others score in double digits. Kenton Lei totaled 18 points and 8 rebounds, Tayshawun Bradford scored 16 points, Dustin Henderson posted 14 points and 7 rebounds, and Chirrag Sidhu added 14 points.
The Pirates return to action on Wednesday (Dec. 18) when they travel to Moorpark College for a 3 p.m. non-conference game.
