Ohlone opens Hartnell series with 12-2 win, extends win streak to 9 games

SALINAS – Gavin Shaddox drove in 5 runs after going 2 for 4 with a grand slam and triple to help lead Ohlone College to a big 12-2 rout at Hartnell College on Tuesday in the opening game of a three-game Coast Conference series.
Brendan Comerford smacked a home run of his own, a three-run shot in the ninth to put an exclamation point on the victory.
The Renegades held a 4-2 lead after five innings but blew the game open with a five-run rally in the top of the sixth inning that was highlighted by Shaddox's two-out blast.
Will Anderson drove in a pair, going 2 for 5. Carson Barnett (2 for 4) and Zach Dawson (2 for 4) also had 2 hits each.
Drew Greenberg earned the win, going 5.2 innings in the start while allowing 2 runs and 5 hits. Titus Clappin (2.1 innings) and Caden Roth (1 inn.) finished off on the mound with scoreless outings.
The Renegades extended their winning streak to nine games to improve to 26-4 overall and 9-1 in Coast Conference play. The series resumes on Thursday (Apr. 3) in Fremont with Game 2 at 2:30 p.m. with the finale back at Hartnell on Saturday (Apr. 5) at 1 p.m.
