Women's Basketball: Short-Staffed Bulldogs Stretch Win Streak to Five After Topping Hartnell

SALINAS, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's basketball program closed out the non-conference slate by picking up the team's fifth consecutive win after pulling off a narrow 53-48 road victory against Hartnell College.

The short-staffed Bulldogs jumped out to a 13-point lead at the end of the opening half, despite entering the contest as the underdog while having just one reserve on the bench for the contest. Coach Scott's squad finished the game with a 43.1 percent showing from the field while limiting the hosting Panthers to just 27.3 percent from the floor. Ball movement also favored the Hancock crew as they registered 21 assists compared to Hartnell's final tally of four.

Kayla Taylor led the team with 18 points on the night after going 9-for-13 from the floor. The Lompoc native also recorded eight rebounds, five blocks, and three steals en route to a stat-stuffing performance. Mallory Branum added to the effort with 11 points, six assists, and three steals. Alexandria Paquet rounded out the top scorers with 10 points and narrowly missed a double-double finish after dishing out nine assists. India Dowling-Green and Mya Mendoza led the visiting crew in the paint with 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively.
