Men's Cross Country set to host Northern California Championships
The Hartnell Men's cross country team will be hosting the 2019 Northern California Regional Championships this Friday Nov. 8, at Toro Park. Opening ceremonies will begin at 9:45 a.m. Followed by the women's three-mile race at 10:00 a.m. and the men's four-mile race at 11:00 a.m. The awards ceremony will commence at noon.
Hartnell finished in second place at the Coast Conference finals last weekend, just being edged out by DeAnza. Sophomore Jesus Avalos led the way with a first-place finish. Isaac Gensel was the second runner who finished, and came in third overall. Rigo Garcia was sixth, Jiovanni Garcia eighth, Alexis Ojeda in eleventh, Elliot Ruiz twelfth, Joseph Loredo thirteenth, and Daniel Correa in fourteenth for the final all-conference spot. The men's team had eight members receive All-Conference honors.
With a great showing on Friday, Hartnell will advance to the California Community College Athletics Association Cross Country Championships. The Championship will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Woodword Park in Fresno.
