Bio

Coach Zepeda began his Hartnell College career as an assistant coach in the Fall of 2006 and quickly promoted to Head Cross Country Coach in Fall of 2018. Since that time the men's cross country team has excelled at both the conference and regional level. For last decade, the Panther men have dominated the Coast Conference winning all but two team championships and nine in a row since 2010. The Panthers have also had every individual conference champion except one in the last ten years. Only three times in the last ten years have the Panthers not placed in the top three in the region culminating with a historic regional title in 2016 and will look to close out the decade having never placed lower than second as a team. The Panthers have their presence known at the CCCAA State Championship recording three consecutive top 5 finishes in 2015-2017.

Zepeda has helped the Lady Panthers to unprecedented regional success winning back-to-back titles in 2009-2010, 2014-2015, 2018-2019. The women have won six consecutve Coast Conference Championships dating back to 2013. At the state level, 2014 and 2015 were historic years for the Lady Panthers. In 2014, the women placed fourth overall at the CCCAA Championship and most recently a historic low team score of 99 points for second place in 2018.  For his efforts, Coach Zepeda was named the CCCAA Women's Head Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2018.

Coach Zepeda came to Hartnell College via Butte College in Oroville, CA where he helped the Roadrunners for three years. In 2005, he helped guide Oscar Uribe to the CCCAA individual championship. He also coached at the high school level at Biggs High School in Biggs, CA where he helped qualify the first ever individuals to the CIF State Championship.

A former community college student-athlete while at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, CA, Coach Zepeda also competed for CSU Chico with his final season of collegiate eligiblity. He graduated with a B.S. degree in Exercise Physiology from CSU Chico in 2001 and a M.S. Degree in Kinesiology in 2007 from CSU Chico. He is USATF Level II certified in Endurance, Multi-Events, and Sprints & Relays and has attended the Coaching Emerging Elite Clinic at the US Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA.

Coach Zepeda has been married to his lovely wife Kim since 2012 and they have a son, Lucas Miles, and a cat named Lulu. They call East Garrison, CA home.
