Duo Takes Top Two Spots at Toro Park
Running over their final tour of the Toro Park cross country course, sophomores Sofia Camacho and Ashley Ochoa put their names into the history books. Camacho ran virtually solo to an easy victory in 19:24. That made her the eighth fastest in program history since Hartnell adopted the 3 mile version at Toro Park as its home course. Ashley Ochoa was second in 19:48, an improvement of 1:12 over her high school junior time. Ochoa goes to 21st all-time in her final run over the course with nearly 30 years of Hartnell history.
With Camacho and Ochoa at the front, the Panthers placed second to Norcal #3 Sierra College 25 to 30. Maria Garcia placed tenth (23:27) and lead a pack of four runners that all finished within sixty seconds of each other as they prep for the championship season. Illanna Martinez was eleventh (23:42), Lapis Hernandez (24:12), and Jade Pimentel (24:27) all in the top 14. Ana Martinez rounded out the team in seventeenth.
The Panthers will compete next at the Coast Conference Championship which will be held at Crystal Springs on Wednesday, October 26th.
