Rams close season with three-game winning streak

GILROY – Louis Zulaica went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI while Joshua Heard also drove in a pair to help lead Gavilan College to a 6-4 win over visiting Hartnell College on Thursday in the Rams' season finale at home.

Gavilan put together a solid stretch of baseball to wrap up the spring as the Rams will head into the offseason having won their final three games.

The Rams added victories over Ohlone College (11-5) and Monterey Peninsula College (5-3) heading into their final contest.

Over the three-game stretch, Zulaica hit a combined 9 for 12 with a home run, 5 RBI, and 4 runs. He went 4 for 5 with 3 RBI in the win over Ohlone. The game proved costly to Ohlone as the Renegades finished a game out of first place in the Coast South.

The Rams racked up 11 hits in the win over Monterey Peninsula. Heard was 3 for 5 with an RBI while Jacob Schlesselman knocked in a pair.

Head coach Rob Sanchez wrapped up his first season leading the Rams to an 11-29 overall record while Gavilan finished tied for fourth place in the final Coast Conference South Division standing at 6-14.
