Rams battle in home matches vs. Monterey Peninsula, Hartnell

GILROY – A tough 2024 women's beach volleyball season continued for Gavilan College on Friday. With a limited roster, the Rams suffered a 4-1 loss to Monterey Peninsula College and fell 4-1 to Hartnell College in Coast Conference matches at home.

With just six members on the squad to form three pairs, the Rams enter each match already facing a 2-0 team deficit.

But the duo of Alyssa Newman and Saribet Bracamontes Ochoa delivered the first pairs wins of the season for the Rams. At the No. 3 position, the duo opened the day with a marathon 22-20, 13-21, 16-14 victory against MPC. And against Hartnell, the duo was awarded a forfeit win after the Panthers' pair had to retire due to injury in the second set.

Up next, Gavilan will host College of San Mateo and De Anza College on April 12 in its final Coast Conference matches of the regular season.
