Cagers Turn It Around With A Home Motors Tournament Title

Men's Basketball earned the inaugural Home Motors Tournament Title by point differential after both the host Cougars and fellow Western State Conference team Santa Barbara went 2-0 in the event.  The Cougars and Vaqueros did not play this weekend, because they already have two WSC meeting scheduled after the New Year, however they each faced both Barstow and Hartnell in the tournament.  Cuesta posted a 28-point win on Barstow on opening night and added tonight's victory over Hartnell, 79-64, for a total advantage of 43 points, while fellow two-time victor Santa Barbara only posted a 20-point margin of victory in its two starts. Tonight's win over Hartnell marked Cuesta's third straight victory and their double-overtime loss at #18 Merced as their only setback this month.  The Cougars, for the second night in a row, counted on their 2023 All-Home Motors Team members to lead them to victory.  2023 All-WSC First Team Guard Drew Ardouin and Forward Ethan Walker were both named to the 2023 All-Home Motors Team after tonight's game.  Ardouin scored 20 points and tied for the game-high with four assists, while Walker continued to dominate the paint with a double-double of 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.  Cuesta Forward TJ Maveety also enjoyed another strong game against Hartnell by tying both Ardouin for tonight's assist lead and Walker for the rebound lead, while also scoring a game-high 22 points. The Cougars are 4-8 on the season.

Men's Basketball has a, nearly, two-week break in their schedule and is set to return to action at the Allan Hancock College Christmas Classic on December 29-30.  The Cougars play Fresno City on December 29 (5 PM) and MiraCosta on December 30 (3 PM)
