Hartnell Women Enjoy Day at Hancock
Competing for the first time at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, the Panther women enjoyed a solid day of competition with excellent Central Coast weather. The Henry Kirk Invitational featured teams from the host, Hartnell College, Monterey Peninsula College, Bakersfield College, and Cuesta College. The women enjoyed four event winners who established a facility record since this was Hancock's first home meet in over 30 years.
Freshman Roselyn Olivo took the 800 meter run wire to wire setting a new personal best 2:27.15. Grace Padron won another hammer throw competition with a toss of 44.45m, setting a new personal best to keep her third place ranking in Northern California. Freshman Taylan Flower won the 400m low hurdles in 1:15.17. Sophomore Maria Garcia won the 5000m in a lifetime best 20:47.64.
Sophomore Daisy Macias hit the State "B" in the long jump setting a new personal best of 4.98m.
Those who set season bests included Lucianna Romeo in the javelin (26.12m), Isolina Barrett (31.52m) in the hammer, Linette Morales-Martinez in the discus (30.83m), the women's 4x100 relay of Flower, Aania Araiza, Daisy Macias, and Kyla Neely lowered their time to 52.53, and Aileen Sandoval in the 400m (64.98).
