Rainy Fanelli Meet Creates Challenges for Panthers
The 2024 track & field season has been mired in poor weather conditions with three of the first five meets for the Panthers experiencing some sort of rainy conditions. The Mike Fanelli Classic was no different but spread over two days did provide a second day with better conditions.
Freshman Taylan Flower was able to run a personal best in the 400mLH despite the rainy conditions. She lowered her season best to 1:13.38. She also ran 18.04 in the 100mH as she continues to flirt with her first sub 18 clocking of the season. Daisy Macias ran her third fastest time over 400mLH in 1:08.60. Grace Padron recorded another 40 meter hammer throw with 41.47m. Isolina Barrett had a personal best in the hammer at 33.02m. Freshman Jimena Hernandez-Tejeda lowered her State "B" in the 3k steeplechase to 12:51.92. Roselyn Olivo ran 18:35.67 in the 5000m on Friday evening and returned Saturday for a 2:26.09 in the 800 meters. Maria Garcia competed in the 2 mile in 12:46.10.
The Panthers will compete next at the Coast vs Valley Meet at Modesto Junior College on Friday, April 5.
