Bio
Prior to Hartnell: Valeria graduated from North Salinas High School and did not start competing in cross country until her final two years. As a senior, Valeria made her up and comping presence known with a sevneth place finish at the PCAL Championship and a top 50 finish in just her second CCS Championship, nearly a 50 place improvement from her junior year.
"I had a chance to see Valeria train in the summer before her senior year and I felt she was one of the most underappreciated and underdeveloped runners in our area. That fall she improved dramatically in league and the region nearly breaking 20 minutes at Toro Park in just her second full year of running. It was in track she showed how truly special she was skyrocketing to elite status. Her 5:07/11:18 combo is by far the fastest we've had come in for a freshman and I'm excited to see I can help her translate that ability to cross country. She's coming in with previous experience at Woodward Park and since then improved ability. She's one other teams across the state won't anticipate for us for sure!"
