NCAA Eligibility
Eligibility Requirements for Hartnell College
The student must be considered an amateur in their sport. Students may participate in two season of sport and may participate in more than one sport.
The student will be declared eligible for practice and competition only after the following items have been verified:
- Current enrollment in good standing at Hartnell College
- Meets eligibility requirements of the COA
- Completed all COA and institutional eligibility forms
- Has a current Student Educational Plan on File with Athletic Academic Advisor
- Has completed a physical exam and received clearance for Student Health
- Official transcripts for transfer work are on file
First Time Participation
- The student is an amateur athlete in the sport in which they intend to participate
- The student must be enrolled in and actively attending a minimum of 12 units during the season of sport. At least 9 units must be courses counting towards an associate degree, remediation, transfer and/or certification as defined by the college catalog.
- The student must have an updated Student Educational Plan on file.
Second Year/Continuing Eligibility
- The student must have a minimum 2.0 GPA
- The student must have completed 24 units between seasons of competition, of which 18 must be academic units.
- The student must be enrolled and actively attending a minimum of 12 units during the season of sport. At least 9 units must be courses counting towards an associate degree, remediation, transfer and/or certification as defined by the college catalog.
- The student must have an updated Student Educational Plan on file.
NCAA Eligibility

Prospective students coming from high school who intend to transfer and participate in athletics at NCAA Division I or II institutions should complete the NCAA Clearinghouse Application to determine their status as a “Qualifier” or “Non-qualifier”. A Qualifier can transfer to an NCAA institution after one semester and be eligible and compete. A Non-Qualifier must complete an Associate Arts degree prior to transferring to an NCAA institution.
