After winning their 2020 season opener on Friday the Hartnell Baseball team hit the road this morning and traveled to take on City College of San Francisco. After pounding 20 hits on opening day and winning convincingly, the Panthers found themselves in a hole early but managed to chip away at the lead and take home a win 7-4. CCSF tallied a couple runs early in the game to take a 2-0 lead. But in the top of the 4th inning the Panthers got things going and brought four runs across to take the lead 3-2. The Rams would score single runs in the 4th and 5th innings, but the Panthers would answer right back taking the lead 5-4, and adding insurance runs in the 6th and later in the 9th inning. Javier Rodriguez would pitch 3 1/3 innings of relief to give the Panthers a chance. He would give away to Carson Cox in the bottom of the 9th inning and Cox would get the last two outs to seal the win.
The Panthers (2-0) will next play at home as they will host Napa Valley on Tuesday Jan. 28th. First pitch is 2 p.m.
