Football Players Sign Off to the Next Level
Panther Football Head Coach Matt Collins announced his class of student-athletes that have committed to colleges and universities for next fall.
Drew Schuler (Salinas, CA/Salinas HS) linebacker has committed to University of the Incarnate Word. As a freshman played in 10 games, had 43 tackles, 28 solo, five sacks and two fumbles recovered. This past season he led the Panthers in total tackles with 77, 58 solo which was 3rd in the state, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions and a fumble recovered. Was also voted 1st team All-Conference. Schuler was also the repient of the Bill Elliott Scholar-Athlete Scholarship.
David Cruz (Soledad, CA/Soledad HS) offensive lineman has committed to University of Mary. Was a key piece on the offensive line paving the way and opening holes for the running backs. Cruz was voted 1st Team All-Conference both his freshman and sophomore seasons.
Santo De Franco (Salinas, CA/Palma HS) defensive lineman has committed to Mercer University. De Franco transferred to Hartnell after spending his first season at another institution. He joined forces with the offensive line to battle in the trenches.
Demarcus Hawkins (Seaside, CA/Seaside HS) linebacker has committed to Southern Nazarene University. As a freshman he had 47 total tackles, 24 solo, eight sacks and two fumbles recovered. As a sophomore he was second on the team in total tackles with 65, 47 solo, five and a half sacks, and a forced fumble. He was voted 1st Team All-Conference his freshman and sophomore years.
Jeremiah Garcia (Salinas, CA/Salinas HS) linebacker has committed to Lake Erie University. This past season had 15 total tackles, eight solo, and two and half sacks. He was voted Honorable Mention All-Conference.
Jakob Streeter (Covington, GA/Alcovy HS) defensive back has committed to Chowan University. As a freshman he totaled 34 tackles, 26 solo, he forced a fumble recovered one too and had two interceptions. This past season he totaled 60 tackles, 48 solo, had a sack and three interceptions. He also played offense, catching 12 passes for 249 yards and three touchdowns. He was voted First Team All-Conference and Region II All-California 1st Team defensive back.
Isaiah Arriola-Randalle (Sacramento, CA/Sacramento HS) quarterback has committed to Kansas Wesleyan University. Had a record setting first year. Arriola-Randalle played in 11 games completed 284 passes(led the state), 60.2% completion rate for 4204 total yards(led the state), 382 yards per game (led the state), 36 touchdowns (second in state) and added four more on the ground. As a sophomore he played in 9 games, completed 125 passes, for 1753 yards, with 14 touchdowns adding two more on the ground. Was voted First Team All-Conference and Region II All-California 1st Team Utility.
Taji Counts-Jones (Columbia, SC/Lower Richland HS) offensive lineman has committed to Southwestern College. Counts-Jones becomes the third Panther offensive lineman to committ this season. He was voted Honorable Mention All-Conference this past season.
The Panthers finished their 2019 season with a record of 6-4 overall and 3-3 in conference.
