Bio

Coach Gomes is entering his 4th season with Hartnell. Coach Gomes started as a youth football coach in Merced. His 1st high school coaching opportunity came as an offensive coordinator at North Monterey County HS back in 1999. He moved up to the JV program for the next 4 seasons as the offensive coordinator. Coach Gomes then joined the Varsity staff at NMCHS in 2004 as the receiver coach and he held that position until 2009, when he became the interim head coach for the 2009-2010 seasons. He stepped away from coaching due to outside job commitments and returned to the same program in 2015. Between 2015-2019 Coach Gomes was once again the Head Coach at NMCHS. Coach Gomes took an opportunity to join the staff at Hartnell in 2020 and has done a great job of keeping things going for the players during the challenging COVID year off. We are fortunate to have Coach Gomes on staff as he provides a ton of experience and relates very well with the young men here at Hartnell College. Sean graduated from Dos Palos HS, where he was a 2 sport athlete (baseball/football). He was named 2nd team All-League as a football player and was also named to the 1st team All-League as a baseball player. Coach Gomes graduated from DeVry Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Science Degree. Sean played 2 years of baseball while at DeVry. Currently, he works as an IT Manager for the County of Monterey for the past 15 years and has been with the county for a total of 24 years. He has been married to his wife Maria for 28 years and they have 2 children (Christopher-38 and Stephanie-35).
