Bio

A native of Modesto, CA, Ortega played soccer for head coach Gary St. Claire at San Jose State University and holds a Master's degree in Kinesiology/Exercise Science from the United States Sports Academy.

 

Ortega was named Hartnell College (Salinas, CA.) head coach for men's soccer in 2007. During his tenure as the head coach, the Panthers have compiled a 121-26-35 (.765) overall record. Hartnell has also won 5 Coast Conference Titles in 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and has been to two California State Final Four appearances (2011 and 2013), winning the 2013 State Title and NSCAA National Junior College Coach of the Year. Ortega is also a full-time instructor at Hartnell teaching Kinesiology and Individual Health. 

 

Prior to Hartnell College, Ortega was an assistant coach at Watsonville High School (Watsonville, CA) under legendary coach Roland Hedgpeth. He currently lives in Santa Cruz, CA and is married to wife, Anne-Caroline, and proud father of two children Mateo and Savannah.
