Sprinter to Pac 12 Washington State
Sophomore De'Antae Choates knew what he wanted ever before he stepped foot on the Hartnell College campus. He wanted to be a NCAA D1 student-athlete and over two and a half years he honed his craft on the track to be recognized by Pac 12 program Washington Sttate University for an athletic scholarship. A CIF State Championship qualifier in the 100 meters while at Seaside High School, De'Antae diversified his sprint resume while a Panther improving on his 200 meter open time and learning to run both relays. As a freshman, he finished fourth at the Northern California Championship in the 100 meters in the fifth best mark in program history (10.64). He also lowered his 200 meter best to 21.69 which stands at seventh best all-time. His freshman year was capped by anchoring the 4x100 meter relay team to a #2 all-time 41.30 mark despite a rain-soaked track at the College of San Mateo.
