Bayhonan Wins Long Jump at Coast vs Valley
Competing in the unique Coast vs Valley Meet at Modesto JC on Friday, freshman Logan Bayhonan won the long jump competition in the multi-team meet. Bayhonan won with a jump of 6.37m just 0.01 ahead of second place. Hartnell College also had several other athletes place put up personal bests in the uniquely formatted meet. The Coast vs Valley Meet holds all the women's events first and then after a short break, all the men's events. The traditional track & field meet alternates genders but the Coast vs Valley is the only meet in California with the unique schedule.
Freshman Vicente Cruz placed fourth in the javelin with a personal best 43.01m. Sophomore Julian Guajardo was two meters behind also in a personal best 41.00m. Freshman Adrian Manriquez cleared 2.90m in the pole vault for the first time as he preps for his Norcal Decathlon. He also had a personal best in the shot put at 7.67m. Alvaro Ruelas doubled 4:15.98 and 16:34.22 to lead the Panthers in the distance races. Jesse Blanco set a personal bes the 800 meters (2:02.71). Sophomore Jacob Dizon took two seconds off his 400 meter best with a fine 52.23. Xavier Quintero dipped under the 12 second mark in the 100 meters for the first 11.69.
The Panthers will continue their weekend on Saturday, March 29 at the West Coast Relays at Clovis Buchanan High School.
