2015-2016 Oscar steadily improved throughout his first season with the Panthers capping it with all-region honors for his fourteenth place finish and being part of the seven who placed fifth overall as a team at the State Championship. Oscar timed his season perfectly producing his fastest four mile performance at the regional championship at Toro Park.

Oscar continued to improve on the track running solid times at 1500 meters (4:08), 3000 (9:06), 5000 (15:34), and 10,000 meters (32:55). He achieved the State "B" qualifying mark in the 10,000 meters at the Northern California Championship. Oscar was a conference point scorer in three events helping the Panthers repeat as team champions.

Prior to Hartnell: Oscar enjoyed a great high school career at North Monterey County High School. He competed as a junior at the state championship gaining valuable Woodward Park experience. Both his junior and senior seasons he was a top 20 finisher at the CIF CCS Championship.
