On February 16, 2018 the Hartnell Women’s Basketball team traveled to Monterey Peninsula College for their last game of the season. Previously, the Lady Panthers had defeated MPC 60-59, behind Alexus Andrade’s team-high 14 points. In the first half, MPC led 23-34 making an exciting game out of it just as the previous match. However, in the second half, MPC caused 30 turnovers compared to Hartnell’s 14, which ultimately led to more opportunities to score. As Hartnell led in rebounds, 3-point percentage and assist’s, MPC managed to squeeze out a 49-69 win. Sophomore Davaughna Thompson had 5 points, 1 block and tallied 5 rebounds while Dallana Pantoja Perez had 12 points, 2 steals, and 7 rebounds. Ryoka Takeda led the team with 15 points, 5 assist, and 2 rebounds. The Panthers finished the season 6-18 (.250) with a 3-9 conference record averaging 54.1 points per game while shooting 31.6 % from the court, improving nearly every category from previous years. We look forward to next season. Go Panthers!
