Smith To Compete for SF State
Sophomore Shaelynne Smith has committed to compete in indoor & outdoor track & field for NCAA DII San Francisco State University. Smith was instrumental in the 2019 Northern California Women's Team Championship scoring in both the 100mH final and the regional heptathlon championship. The 2019 Northern California Heptathlon was her first full seven event competition and she placed seventh overall. The Coast Conference fifth place finisher in the 100mH, Smith started to catch fire by the regional final placing sixth overall in a season best 16.21. In addition to her hurdle and multi-event exploits, the sophomore from San Benito High School ran on the 4x100 meter relay. Over the course of her two community college seasons, Smith lowered her lifetime bests for 100 meters and 200 meters while adding nearly 3 feet to her shot put even with the suspension of her second season after just three meets. A near 4.0 GPA student in her two years, Smith will major in Business Administration for the Gators.
