Hartnell Trio Completes Nocal Heptathlon
Although not quite the outcome the Panthers were looking for, the trio of Clodine Tabernilla, Lorraine Mankins, and Daisy Macias all completed the Northern California Heptathlon Championship in Modesto on Wednesday. The trio faced one of the most competitive fields in recent years with the top 10 finishers all reaching the State "A" mark.
Lorraine Mankins lead the trio in the long jump with a mark of 4.56m, Clodine Tabernilla was 4.49m, and Daisy Macias at 4.14m. Tabernilla carried the group in the javelin with her mark of 26.15m. Mankins had a best of 22.33m. Macias finished with 11.78m. The final event of the heptathlon was the 800 meters with Mankins (2:57.94) the top finisher. Tabernilla would record the higest score at 3054 points with Mankins just one point behind at 3053 points. Macias completed her first ever heptathlon with a score of 2665 points.
The Panthers will now shift their focus to the championship portion of the season with the Coast Conference Championship taking place on Wednesday, April 26th and Saturday, April 29th at De Anza College.
