Panthers Kick Off Season Indoors
The Hartnell College track & field kicked off the 2025 season for the first time competing indoors at the newly compled University of Nevada Reno indoor track & field facility. Running on the 200m to a lap track and on raised horizontal jump runways, the Panthers enjoyed a solid two days of competition. Hartnell College was the only community college in attendance and the only in the region to compete indoors.
On the men's side, Eduardo Morfin ran 7.05 in the 60 meters to start his sophomore season. Morfin was also timed in 22.97 in the 200 meters. Jacob Duff (2:07.77) lead in the 800 meters with freshman Giancarlo Mendo (4:31.62) the first Panther in the mile. Norcal cross country champion Jesse Blanco was tops for the Panthers in the 3000 meters at 9:12.95. Ivan Martinez-Galindo debuted in the 5000 meters in 17:24.84. Hartnell competed in both the 4x400 relay (3:36.03) and Disttance Medley Relay (11:19.61). Freshman Gianni Ponce cleared 1.85m in the high jump with fellow freshman Adrian Manriquez at 5.65m in the long jump. Freshman Aiden Ishimaru lead in both the shot put (11.01m) and weight throw (11.14m).
For the women, freshman Jenna Emerson was tops in the 60m hurdles (9.99) and 200m (26.45). .Sophomore Roselyn Olivo competed in the mile (5:38.75) and 800 meters (2:28.77). Sophomore Jimena Hernandez-Tejeda (12:18.43) ran her first indoor 3000 meters. The women's 4x400 relay team of Emerson, Emily Orozco, Daisy Andrade, and Taylan Flower opened with 4:26.82. Jimena Ortiz Guardado was the top shot put for the women 8.08m. Marissa Avelar tossed the 20lb weight 11.84m.
The Panthers will compete next at the Wildcat Cup to be held February 13-14 for the first time at Hartnell College on the newly completed Gary Shaw Track.
