Olivo Leads Panthers at Coast vs Valley Meet
The Coast vs Valley Meet held at Modesto JC provided the one opportunity during the 2025 season for each gender to complete its entire meet schedule rather than alternating men's and women's events. This format mirrors the NCAA indoor championship meet and the Coast vs Valley Meet is the only in the entire state to use this format. This year's meet was attended by host Modesto JC, Hartnell College, Butte College, Merritt College, Allan Hancock College, De Anza College, Sacramento City College, College of San Mateo, Sierra College, Merced College and Yuba College.
Sophomore Roselyn Olivo placed second in the 800 meter run but picked up her fourth State "A" mark in a personal best 2:21.94. That mark moves Olivo into third in Northern California and is just off the top 20 all-time. Daisy Andrade had a personal best in the 200m (29.82) as she preps for Norcal heptathlon. Emily Orozco lowered her 400 meters to 63.87. Freshman Yareli Meza took nearly 30 seconds off her 5000 meters and set a personal best 20:38.40. Jenna Emerson stayed consistent in the long jump at 4.87m with Kyla Neely debuting at 4.43m. Belle Caasi lead the Panthers in the shot put (8.62m) and discus (26.39m). Arianna Cabrera-Noriega held steady in the javelin in 26.67m.
The Panthers will also compete on Saturday, March 29 for a small group at the West Coast Relays hosted by Fresno State at Clovis Buchanan High School, site of the CIF State Championship.
