Panther Women Compete at West Coast Relays
With much better weather for the West Coast Relays in 2025 compared to last year, the Panther women were able to notch several important personal bests as they work toward the Coast Conference Championship on April 25-26. The meet held at Clovis Buchanan High School provided the opportunity for Hartnell athletes to compete at the venue used for the CIF State Championship and has also hosted the NCAA DI Western Athletic Conference Championship.
Freshman Jenna Emerson moved into the top 10 in the 100mH with her lifetime best 15.50. That mark was good enough to eclipse the 15.55 for the State "A" and moves Emerson into fourth best in Northern California. Emerson along with Emily Orozco, Daisy Andrade, and Taylan Flower set a personal best in the 4x100 relay (52.69). Emerson, Orozco, Roselyn Olivo and Janai Orozco nearly met the State "A" standard but lowered their 4x400 to 4:10.93. This was a season best by nearly 5 seconds. Olivo ran her second best 1500 meters (4:52.02). Janai Orozco met the State "B" in the 800 meters with 2:25.15, a three second personal best. Emily Orozco (70.30), Taylan Flower (72.15), and Daisy Andrade (75.51) all competed in the 400mLH. Flower cleared 1.45m in the high jump with Emerson jumping 10.39m in the triple jump. Marissa Avelar-Hernandez was a consistent 37.77m in the hammer. Isolina Mittelsteadt Barrett was tops in the discus (32.98m).
The Panthers will send focus on improving mid-distance and distance marks at the Mike Fanelli Classic at San Francisco State on April 3-5.
