Emerson Posts Top Long Hurdle at Fanelli
Competing in her first Mike Fanelli Classic at San Francisco State, freshman Jenna Emerson improved on her lifetime best in the 400mLH to 65.99 to lead the Panthers. She also recorded a time of 15.62 in the 100mH to start her day. The Mike Fanelli Classic brings programs off all sizes to the San Francisco State campus for a three day meet featuring primarily distance evens from 800 to 10,000 meters.
Also competing in the 400mLH, Emily Orozco nearly got the State "A" in the 400mLH with a three second lifetime best of 67.69. That mark improved on her State "B" and moved her closer to the top 8 in Northern California. Fellow sophomore Taylan Flower was not far behind in her second ever sub 70 clocking over the full lap hurdle race. Her time fo 69.80 improved on her State "B". Flower also recorded a lifetime best 16.79 in the 100mH. Roselyn Olivo (2:24.81) and Janai Orozco (2:27.56) both competed in the 800 meters with Orozco also running the 1500m (5:08.66). Yareli Meza ran a season best in the 1500 meters (5:23.97) and also doubled 5:54.56 and 12:41.07 in the full mile and 2 mile. Freshman Alexa Flores was timed in 6:14.49 and 13:36.43 in the same events. Dominayah Black cleared 1.42m in the high jump, had a mark of 4.43m in the long jump, and made her Hartnell debut in the triple jump in 10.12m. Flower (10.21m) and Emerson (10.25m) also competed in the triple jump.
The Panthers will return to action on Saturday, April 12th competing for the first time at the UCSB Open on the campus of UC Santa Barbara.
