Bio

Freshman Year: Daniela enjoyed one of the most successful first year campaigns in program history. She placed second at the Coast Conference Championship at Crystal Springs, third in her first Northern California Championship, and completed the year with a seventh place All-American finish at the CCCAA State Championship. Her performances guided the Panthers to a conference team title, a record-shattering 19 points at the regional championship, and a program record low 98 points at the CCCAA championship. On the track she no less impressive despite missing most of March and April with injury but was still able to win her first Northern California 800 meter title. At the CCCAA State Championship, she ran a season best 2:17.42 on the rain soaked track at College of San Mateo to place fifth.

Prior to Hartnell: Daniela graduated from Watsonville High School where she participated in cross country all four years. Her senior season put her on the map as she placed third overall at the MBL Championship and tenth at the CCS Championship earning a berth to the CIF State Meet. She consistently ran 3 mile races under 20:00 all season as a senior and capped her career with a 19:41 mark at Woodward Park.

"Daniela had an amazing first cross country season. Although we weren't able to duplicate the success in the spring, much was learned about what she needs to do in training and how to stay healthy. She's already shown great fitness this summer and is even ahead of last year despite less preparation. A mature, seasoned competitor, Daniela is primed to take a run at our first individual state title. Given her leg speed, we'll just need to let the miles add up and keep building toward November 23rd. If all goes well, she will give it her best effort no doubt."
