Women's Cross Country set to host Northern California Championships
The Hartnell Women's cross country, who is ranked No. 2 in state, and No. 1 in northern california, will attempt to punch its ticket to state and repeat winning the team championship. Hartnell will be hosting the 2019 Northern California Regional Championships this Friday Nov. 8, at Toro Park. Opening ceremonies will begin at 9:45 a.m. Followed by the women's three-mile race at 10:00 a.m. and the men's four-mile race at 11:00 a.m. The awards ceremony will commence at noon.
Hartnell won the Coast Conference finals last weekend running on the same course they will be running the Nor Cal Finals, in dominating fashion as eight runners earned All-Conference honors. Sophmore Daniela Salazar led the way with a first-place finish. Shantal Martinez finished a close second, followed by Valeria Gomez-Lozano coming in third. Faith Mora, Mariah Changco, Nerina Campos and Joanna Macias all finished in the top 10, with Alondra Carreon finishing right behind her at eleventh place.
With a great showing on Friday, Hartnell will advance to the California Community College Athletics Association Cross Country Championships. The Championship will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Woodword Park in Fresno.
