Camacho and Ochoa Post Fast Time at Twilight
In the first year of the Chabot Twilight, Sofia Camacho and Ashley Ochoa competed in the accompanying 3000m with Camacho the event winner. In their second year, both moved up in distance to 5000m and scored lifetime personal bests. Camacho was timed in 18:14.65, a time that bettered her previous best of 18:17.08. The mark moves Camacho to tenth fastest all-time jumping over Hartnell legend Holly Babione. Ochoa was the next community college finisher outsprinting Liliana Salado of College of the Sequoias. Ochoa lowered her lfietime best by 52 seconds to 18:42.05. Her previous best was 19:34.44 run at the Mike Fanelli Classic last spring. She moves to fourteenth best all-time.
In the accompanying 3000 meter run, five women competed for the Panthers lead by Maria Garcia at 12:36.30. Behind her was Ilianna Martinez (12:56.38), Jade Pimentel (13:18.94), Lapis Hernandez (13:25.75), and Ana Martinez (15:44.76).
The Panthers will compete next at the Manny Bautista Invitational hosted by San Diego Mesa College on Friday, October 7.
