Panther Women Enjoy Night Race
A twilight track race during the fall was born in September 2021 and has enjoyed growing success every year. The first three editions were all held at Chabot College under the direction of coach Kyle Robinson. With his leave from Chabot, the meet moved to nearby Santa Rosa Junior College and named in his honor for creating the event. This year's event brought programs from Santa Rosa JC, Hartnell College, Chabot College, Merritt College, Diablo Valley College, and Mendocino College.
Roselyn Olivo placed third in the 5000 meters in 18:57. Freshman Janai Orozco completed her first track race beyond eight laps in 19:49. Jimena Hernandez-Tejeda lowered her track 5000m best by over a minute running 20:29. Freshman Yareli Meza surpised herself with a 20:49 debut at the distance. The duo of Cristal Baeza (22:14) and Karen Perez (22:15) helped each other to solid races. Isabelle Rocha (22:37) was just off her time from last May's Northern California Championship time of 22:21. Natalia Tapia San Miguel (22:54), Isabella Rocha (23:42) and Lucero Benigno (23:44) also tested themselves over twelve and a half laps. The women's team was the only full team in the 5000 meter race and recorded a perfect score of 15 points.
