Bio

2015-2016: Yvette enjoyed a good first year for the Lady Panthers as her consistency in training translated into consistent race performances. She ran all of her freshman races in the 20 minute range with her best performances coming early in the season at Toro Park where she tied her lifetime best for the course in 20:38 and at the end at the conference championship. Yvette placed sixth overall in 20:06 at Crystal Springs making her the top returner as a sophomore. She also competed at the Northern CA Championship helping the Lady Panthers to a repeat regional title and at the State Championship where they placed second overall as a team.

On the track, several injuries slowed Yvette's progress down mid-season but she did qualify to the Northern CA Champion in both the 5000m and 10,000m. She placed 11th in the 10,000m final in 41:18.38 and will be one of the top returners in 2017.

Prior to Hartnell: Yvette comes to Hartnell with valuable state championship experience while at Anzar High School. She competed at the CIF State Championship as a junior and senior while recording her best time of 20:47 her senior season. Yvette also brings in a Toro Park personal best of 20:38 despite only competing for three years while at Anzar.

"Yvette might have wanted a smoother freshman year but I think overcoming all that adversity while still playing a role in two historic team accomplishments has just set teh ball in motion for a great sophomore year. She's had some great performances on the trail and track that show her second year year could be like those before her she strives to be like. No doubt Yvette will do the work to become one of the biggest surprises as a sophomore."
