Bio
Freshman Year: Maria placed 18th at the Coast Conference Championship just missing all-conference. A season riddled with small injuries, Maria's best showing was the Pat Ryan Invitational where she placed 21st in 21:58 for the 5k course. In track, Maria ran the first oval races of her career. At the Coast Conference Championship she posted a season best 5000m of 21:53 to place ninth just one spot of scoring.
Prior to Hartnell: Maria ran four years of cross country at Greenfield High School. Her senior year she blossomed leading the Lady Bruins with her fifth place overall finish at the MTAL Championship. Maria earned multiple years of post-league experience competing in three CCS Championships.
"Maria didn't come into her freshman year in the shape we were hoping but slowly throughout the year we started to formulate a plan to make her sophomore season more successful than the one she had as a senior at Greenfield. Maria has the tools to run well, we just need to start with some conditioning to give her enough time to beat her high school times. So far this summer she's shown that she has put the time into her running this summer. Maria is all in to get that all-conference honor this year!"
